Twenty-three years ago today
the L.A. streets were filled with grey.
Smoke billowed from buildings and filled the street.
Then marshall law tanks came to defeat.
Police dressed like Nazis in their riot gear.
Heavy weapons used for more than stoking fear.
The people were angry at the injustice.
Rodney King was just scratching the surface.
How many innocent people have died since that day?
The police just killed Baltimore’s Freddie Gray.
Baltimore saw some violence too
because some folks are lost as to what else they can do.
I wouldn’t put it passed the government to pump in provocateurs
to make it appear that our motives to assemble are impure.
We film the cops and spread the word:
We’re just looking for peace and justice, or haven’t you heard?
Do cops remember all of the names like I do?
Have they ever heard of Amadou Diallo?
Kimani Gray, Eric Garner or Ezell Ford?
Or are all these victims of murder ignored?
The corrupt justice system does not indict.
They condone these officers because they are white.
This is torture of the black and brown community.
Nothing will change unless we have complete unity
for Oscar Grant, Michael Brown, and Sean Bell
We won’t rest, not even if it’s frozen in hell.
Two victims of Hurricane Katrina that we cannot forget.
The Danziger Bridge shootings of Ronald Allen and James Brissette
How cold must you be to murder twelve year old Tamir Rice?
While I’m at it fuck the racist pigs at ICE
Ransackers of the poor, the trabajador, whole families in the middle of the night
Destroying people who came in vain to the USA for their human rights.
I can’t seem to end this manifesto.
I don’t want to fail to mention Orlando Barlow
Traveres McGill, Victor Steen, Kendrec McDade,
we can never let their memories fade.
There are just too many lost to name them all.
Just one last name, this is for Abdul Kamal.
It is a testament to all the communities of color.
The patience and strength of each mother, father, sister, brother.
My final message is for every morally corrupt cop.
Only you can make all these killings stop.
There might be riots to defend the constitution
There comes a time when a country calls for revolution
That there hasn’t been a bigger explosion is truly a wonder.
Make no mistake, we will not silently be torn asunder.

Continued:
This poem would be remiss if I failed to add these lines
because some racists cops committed more heinous crimes.
In just two days two more innocent people died.
Police reports nothing but bloody with lies.
Now Alton Sterling and Philando Castile are gone.
They will never wake up to see their children or another dawn.
How much more of this will people be able to take?
This news is real, but how much of it is fake?
When all the world's a stage
how much do we get played?
Did they carry out a psy-op in Dallas to cast doubt
'bout any black man white people see near their house?
Were there people hired as crisis actors?
Does this reek of a false-flag disaster?
Every one of us must realize we are beholden to the same Master.
