Soledad Canyon

Here I am again in Soledad Canyon
The waters are rising in each
                                           corner and end
All of my loved ones have been
                           ground down like fine sand
I must head for the mountain
                           get out of this land
When that nightmare comes true
                   and it's really a bad one
You reach for companions
                          you look for a friend
Then you realise they can't make
                                             it that far
with you down the road
                         but you must reach the end

The tears that we cry must be
                         followed with laughter
The lessons we learned must be
                 considered all that matters
To be there and stand up
                 when we are most needed
Filling the shoes of 
                  our best memories

How did I get all the way here
                         in Soledad Canyon?
Was my soul bound to the signs
                        because I believe?
It all feels familiar like it's been done
                for so many lifetimes
We've done so much under the sun
             that we cannot conceive

I want us to be meant to be
        with eachother, holding eachother
I believe in this thing
Nothing will change this my dear lover
Keep your heart open and
                                 be love with me

For now I must wait above the flood line
Tossing out lifesavers
                    waters strewn with white rings
I had to prepare for this many a year
To stand on this rock of ages with no fear

Please don't forsake me
                        please don't forget me
You won't be able to do so too soon
I'm gathering the pieces from this    
                                   arduous journey
While I have been walking past
                                  many new moons
I have many to go and
                              want you beside me
When the time is right
                          we will be more than ready
We will have plenty of time to
                              make sweet memories
Many a day and many a night

I must stay in retreat from the darkness
                       to complete contemplation
Been forging the floodwaters
                       holding on to the sides
My tears have paid their own contribution
In search I am of higher initiation
Redemption is calling me, calling us
We are all tumbling in the riptides
No judgement, just trust and realise
Our Love is much bigger than the ships
                       that pass us by
