Gracias Las Abejas

Gracias las abejas
You fly between the Springs remembering to attend to the precious things
A feral moment not
                    claimed or taxed
A winter's glove to hide inside
A song to sing for the Queen
You bless with works
                     within the hive
You are a corona to the
continuation of life and time
Besame abeja, y gracias
A drink to you and the vine
The Creator's mensajes
dispel a random harvest
We are one in the sublime.

Accidental Miracle, for Joanna

Upon the sand that slips
                      through the glass
That gets blown by the wind
Upon the rock of hardness
                    the heaviest mass
Upon the dust where
                               we all begin
Upon the glass that lays
                a jagged way unsafe
It is here, where most likely
We can mend by the wisdom
and grace of the
                   accidental miracle

For the Presumed Sins of Alger Hiss

For the presumed sins of Alger Hiss

Edward Dmytryk gave the “House on Un-American Activities Committee” a laundry list

of workingman’s Hollywood: intelligencia, socialists, communists

Dmytryk had decided it wasn’t fair to watch

his film making career being ripped from him

No Gentleman Jim

His reasoning, he insists, is that by the communists

Dmytryk had been

tricked, bamboozled, hoodwinked, duped

That isn’t really how he thinks…

Though they were his friends and colleagues

perhaps some were communists,

(which is perfectly okay to be,

according to our country’s liberties)

and most definetly there were some hapless

working class consciousness Hollywood bystanders, too,

got cooked in the soup

To get his career back, he was the only one

of the Hollywood Ten to sink as miserably low

as Elia Kazan stooped

He would go on to restore

his Hollywood glories

Though it would cost many

He insisted that the case of Alger Hiss

Who was accused of being a spy for the Soviets

Was what got him to turn so many in

to the committee for Hiss’ presumed sins,

but Alger Hiss maintained his innocence until he died

an old man in his 90s

Dmytryk maintained his opulence by making The Caine Mutiny

In honor of those harmed by the vicious and unconstitutional

McCarthy witch hunt, in general

Let's unite to defend, with words and deeds,

Your right and mine to be a communist

Or any other thing to be

Except a fascist, sadist, disaster capitalist

or a friendly witness like Edward Dmytryk

Sacrament & Sacrifice

I carry, I find
I bleed, I cry
I hold, I cope
My eyes are open
Groping for the rope
Climbed to the top,
I stoop to taste
            the living sacrament
of birth, of death
The dirt still wet
from my years
           and what they meant

Jesus' Rebellion

Jesus didn't know the
the feeling of rejection
That was an invention
soon after Jerusalem's
      first 1st century fall
It was started by Paul

Jesus didn't know anything
                        but affection
He had the protection
of his people at the wall
                laying down palms

Jesus didn't know that in
2000 years, lies about him would cause division
Between people's                convictions
      a catastrophic collision
He came with a sword
                                    so tall

Jesus came to rescue from
complacency's damnation
What else do you call
"Give unto Rome their coin
      but don't forsake G-d's
                             Rebellion?"

Say Hello To Eternity

Mary vast ocean
Born of blessed womb,
             of motherly devotion

To hear you in every gust of wind and watch every flame dance by your door

We know wind and spirit are the same things in
                       the tongue
Hebrew and Maya

I use my little light
to light the torch
and bridge the climes

to heaven like a rope
bridge past its prime
Hanging heavy laden

Footsteps inch by inch
Holding out with hope clinging for dear life

You cut the tension
in the spine's prime of
life with a knife and
left me with endless strife

The angels honor us
for not giving up but
the sin is to not return

to that blessed womb
You always said you didn't
                         fear death

You were there before
Witness to eternity's temple
That is why the Mother
gave you someone to Serve

Who would give birth
                     again and again
A truth and love to
                               depend on

I will sit in silence to hear
your echos in the
    catacombs of my heart

Say hello to eternity
Where you longed to fly
                and never die

Our dance is forever
sanctioned by our Mother
for She brought us together

Amen
